She looked at Hibiscussting with large eyes and her one of her eyebrows raised at the deputy's response. Dolphinpaw was honestly taken back by the intensity in Hibiscussting's words but Dolphinpaw decided not to press it further. Then she noticed tabby she cat turning her back away from Hibiscussting and Dolphinpaw decided to greet her as well.
"Hello!" Dolphinpaw greeted her eyes shinning brightly. The brown tabby she cat smelt like Scorch clan, but despite this little discovery the young she cat was still interested in this new cat. "My name is Dolphinpaw and I am from Rushing clan!" she meowed a bright and proud smile still evident in her face. "What's your name?"
(OOC: oh Dolphinpaw you're so adorable! XD)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Crescentstrike looked over her shoulder to see who wasn’t taking the hint and leaving her the hell alone. That was when she saw the apprentice.
My god. That smile was like looking directly at the sun. She’d never seen such unbridled joy faced in her direction before. It was so bright that Crescentstrike very nearly turned away for a second to protect her eyes, but she kept her wincing gaze fixed on the apprentice.
Perhaps… Perhaps she had been a little bit too obsessed with Sharkclan these days. Of all the clans… She had not yet asked Rushingclan her pressing question. “Crescentstrike.” She rumbled quietly.
But to ask her question to an apprentice of all cats? She was small, inexperienced. Clearly she had not yet been touched by lives hardships. Her answer surely could not connect realistically to Crescentstrike’s situation. But the warrior had a feeling that unlike any before she had asked this apprentice might actually provide her an answer.
“Might I press upon you an odd question?” She started delicately, keeping her voice low. She knew a certain Sharkclanner that might suspect something if she was spotted talking to this apprentice. So she had to be quick and to the point here.
Dolphinpaw's smile of course never wavered not even when Crescentstrike was taken a back by the glow of Dolphinpaw's face. In all honesty she didn't even realized that Crescentstrike was trying hard not to wince at little Dolphinpaw. Then Dolphinpaw smiled even bigger when the she cat finally said her name. "That's a really pretty name," Dolphinpaw purred happily and excitingly while trying hard to keep herself from bouncing around like a little kit. Then she asked Dolphinpaw if Crescentstrike a question. Dolphinpaw still smiled and nodded her head though now her mind was curious at what type of question she had. "Sure, go on right ahead," she meowed kindly. "I'll answer as best as I can," Dolphinpaw quickly added.
"Show me an act of kindness." That was less a question and more a command. But at this point Crescentstrike wasn't sure how to frame it as a question. All she knew was she wanted an answer.
She was taken aback at the question or Dolphinpaw should say demand. At first Dolphinpaw had no idea what to do at first. There was so many reasons to show kindness. Sometimes it'd be helping a friend let alone a rival cat get back on their feet after they suffered an injury (and thus far she didn't see any cat in terrible pain). Then she remembered something she did for her brother. Before Crescentstrike could even react, Dolphinpaw bolted past her with the speed and grace of a dolphin swimming through the ocean. Dolphinpaw looked around hoping to find them. 'They have to be around her somewhere.' Then she saw a bunch of beautiful flowers. 'Perfect!' Dolphinpaw grabbed as much of the flowers as she can find and with her claws began to tie them together. It was difficult of course but she learned to perfect her skills until finally the hibiscus flowers, plumerias, and Naupakas. Soon they were finally in a form of a beautiful flower crown. Grabbing the flower by using her mouth she quickly bolted once again until she was at Crescentstrike's side. Then Dolphinpaw put it over Crescentstrike's head. Then she sat closely to Crescentstrike's side. "You like it Crescentstrike?" Dolphinpaw asked there was such gentleness and joy in her voice. "I know my brother always feel better when I give him a crown of flowers," the smile became more gentle almost like the soft glow of moonlight across the dancing ocean waves. "Kindness can come in many forms Crescentstrike. It can be helping a injured warrior either of your own clan or a rival. It can be just helping out your clanmates when they need you. Or it's as simple as making a flower crown for them and just talking to them," Dolphinpaw wagged her tail. "I know that whenever my brother is depressed or had a bad nightmare I would go make him flower crowns and talk to him. Sometimes we would even tell each other jokes. There's no true answer to kindness, but in my opinion, it's when you put your own desires aside and be there for those who truly needs it," The sunshine beam once again returned to Dolphinpaw's face as she waited Crescentstrike's answer. In truth Dolphinpaw was worried she didn't give the she cat the answer she wanted, but kindness is such a broad word, many cats have their own opinions on what it means similarly to the word love, she just hoped Crescentstrike would like her explanation alright.
Crescentstrike almost lashed out as the apprentice seemed to be running towards her, but was a little slow on the take and so ended up pawing empty air. She watched the apprentice bolt around like a squirrel on pixie dust, confusion growing as she watched her collect flowers. Then it was placed upon her head. “Am I supposed to eat it?” She was pretty sure cats were only able to eat meat. “I don’t understand its purpose. And what does it mean, exactly to put others before oneself? What actions would that qualify under?”
The warrior understood the concept. Say, making sure your clan was fed before yourself. But surely there was more than that... But even that Scorchclan could not afford to do. She needed to understand the action of it all. What was it really?
"No silly you're so suppose to wear it," Dolphinpaw giggled. She hoped she haven't insulted Crescentstrike with her chuckling, but she couldn't help but fine it funny and shocking that no one ever given the she cat a crown of flowers. "It's not really suppose to have a purpose. It's only meant to make cats feel better and make them feel pretty," Dolphinpaw explained with a large smile. "Momma always said the smallest act of kindness can help a great deal," Dolphinpaw continued. "Although big ones a great, for example my daddy had a rival who lived in Sharkclan. One day my daddy saw that his archenemy has broken his leg. Daddy had many reasons to just let the guy stay there, but my daddy was a good person. So instead he helped the warrior get back to Sharkclan safe and sound," Dolphinpaw explained. "Kindness doesn't just go to one of your clan mates, it belongs to all the clans, and with kindness shared with one another all the clans will survive," Dolphinpaw added her chest puffing out with pride.
Funny how of all the people Crescentstrike had asked, it was an apprentice who had actually succeeded in answering her question with an action- just what she’d asked for. How was it that an apprentice could do what three warriors could not? Or was it simply because she was from Rushingclan? The warrior pawed at the flower crown a little. A gift from a stranger. Putting others first- even if it as at a disadvantage to you.
“Well… Thus far I must say your answer has been by far the most useful. I wish to thank you… How do they say thank you in your clan?”
Dolphinpaw felt flattered and joyful that she was able to answer Crescentstrike. Just thinking of Crescentstrike's praise over the she cat and saying that only Dolphinpaw managed to answer her question it made her even more happy. It always was Dolphinpaw's goal to make every cat happy and just knowing she made one joyful made her feel fulfilled. Dolphinpaw giggled a little when Crescentstrike asked how Rushingclan say thank you. "Mostly a normal thank you would suffice," Dolphinpaw purred happily with her tail wagging. "Although sometimes I would give my big brother a gift to show my appreciation,"
"Very well then. Thank you." That was easy. "I will... Try and find a gift for you by next gathering. If I figure something out before then I may give it to you at the border." She could give her a piece of prey, as that was all Crescentstrike could think of. However food was far too rare to just be giving out like that. Plus, giving food to anyone... Well it was kind of a romantic gesture. At least in Scorchclan.
Dolphinpaw of course just smiled happily and once again wagged her long tail. It always made Dolphinpaw feel so happy when she sees a cat happy or at least appreciative for what Dolphinpaw has done for her. It just always left the young apprentice with a warm fuzzy feeling in her heart. "You're so welcome," she meowed happily. "Anything for a friend. Also it's okay if you don't give me anything just your friendship is all more then enough for me," she added with a purr in her voice.
